Regulations

The Ulster Gliding Club is a member club of the British Gliding Association, the UK umbrella body, and Approved Training Organisation for the sport.  As such we employ the comprehensive training syllabus that will take you right from the earliest stages through to holding a Sailplane Pilots Licence. The club provides this training free of charge, under the supervision of highly qualified BGA instructors who are subject to regular competency checks.

Once licensed you may fly anywhere at home or overseas, and depending on your personal aspirations, you can decide to take advantage of further specialised coaching to add further ratings to your license, for example, glider aerobatics, or to provide instruction and so help train the next generation of pilots.

All of our gliders are maintained to internationally-recognized airworthiness standards, administered by the BGA.  This work is done on-site by our qualified BGA-Authorised Inspectors.  Their skills and the Club’s facilities are also available to the owners of private gliders located here.
